- Essential oils should never be used undiluted.
- Essential oils should never be used on cats, birds, or other small mammals.
- Essential oils should not be used on pregnant Bitches or puppies under 6 months of age.
- Some essential oils are contraindicated for use with certain health conditions (epileptic dogs for example)
- Always allow your dog a means of escape from the scent. If your dog does not like a scent – do not enforce its use.
- Do not use essential oils for longer than 2 weeks at a time (one week scent rest).
- If your dog has a negative reaction, wash area with cool damp cloth.
- Never use essential oils near eyes, muzzle, or sensitive areas.
- If irritation occurs, milk can be used to absorb essential oil residue.
- Size matters, do not use the same amount of diluted oil blend on a Chihuahua as you would a Great Dane.
